More From Kotaku Australia Which is absurd, I know, but remember that this isn’t a range designed to be sold in GameStop. These last two were the most expensive pieces in the collection, coming in at ¥816,750 each, which works out to be around USD$7200 (A$9,379). There are two more available, each doing the same thing, with the fancy hoods and the light-up eyes. Zip the hood on, though, and: Image: Undercoverĭim the lights, whip out the branded remote control you get with it, and suddenly: Image: Undercover ![]() See? With the hood off, it’s a normal jacket. With hoods up, though, they’re Eva tributes that don’t just model their head designs, but even have remote controls you can use to control the LED eyes. Or these $US1200 (A$1,608) turtlenecks modelled after the kid’s plugsuits: Image: Undercoverīut the real star were these jackets, which with the hoods down look like regular, maybe slightly technical trenches, with seam taping and practical zips. Like these $US5600 (A$7,503) puffer jackets: Image: Undercover I’m here to talk about the centrepiece of the collection, which is a range of outerwear that goes beyond “inspired by Evangelion” to “Evangelion cosplay”. But I’m not here to talk about Evangelion shirts. Some of the simpler pieces, like the shirts (above, which I quite like), could be had for around USD$200 before they sold out, which considering we’re talking high-end streetwear in 2021 isn’t too bad. Japanese actors "Sae Okazaki" and "Rihito Itagaki" have been appointed as key visual models. The range features a ton of different pieces, from sweaters to hoodies to shirts, some of them modelled after Evangelion characters, others emblazoned with Evangelion illustrations and logos. In addition to the jumbo cut-and-sew items that depict the 13th and 2nd units from " Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time", previous limited designs also make a comeback to this collection. In this collection world-famous anime "Evangelion", which attracts many fans with its characters, mysterious story and futuristic cutting-edge style, by Director Hideaki Anno, fuses with the spirit of Ground Y Inheriting the aesthetic DNA of Yohji Yamamoto, who came to advocate an antithesis to fashion since 1981, Ground Y continues with this expression of "black" as the inherent theme of this collection. This collection will not go on regular sale and is exclusively available as MTO (make-to-order) during the above period. The collaboration is exclusively available for pre-order on "THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO" and Ground Y stores in Japan. Ground Y is presenting a collaborative collection with the "Evangelion" series, available for pre-order 10 days from July 16th (Friday) to 25th (Sunday). In celebration of the new release of the acclaimed " Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time" "Ground Y" proposes new aesthetics for fashion in a "genderless" and "ageless" style. ![]() Enacted through Yohji Yamamoto filter and incorporating multifaceted elements that synchronize with it's concept
